I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch No.61 of the 18th February last, forwarding a report by the Director of Public Works on the collapse of two houses in Cochrane Street, Victoria, on the 14th August, 1901.
2. I am advised that under section 72 of the Buildings Ordinance, 1869, the addition of a fresh storey to each of these houses was a work generally subject to the provisions of that Ordinance.
3. This being so, I regret to say that after perusing Mr. Chatham's report I am unable to...
